Feature Focus - June 2024

This month's release introduces significant updates aimed at improving compliance and user experience. Highlights include payroll-based journals, certified payroll reporting, new minimum wage increases, the general availability of Pay On-Demand (POD), and new scheduling exception types. Additional enhancements include updates to the Pay On-Demand modal, e-offer letter visuals, new data sources, and improved time card displays.

Three Most Significant Changes:

  1. Minimum wage increases in Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington localities are effective July 1, 2024.
  2. Simple payroll-based journal reporting process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  3. Introduction of employee information added to Time Card: employee information, including avatar, name, status, and personal/employment details, directly on the time card page. 

Other Notable Changes:

  • Automated creation of certified payroll reports: each week, the platform generates comprehensive reports that include all necessary details, such as employee information, hours worked, wages paid, and benefits provided.

  • Pay On-Demand is now generally available, ending the beta phase.

  • Enhancements to the Pay On-Demand modal and e-offer letter visuals.

  • New data sources for reports

  • The introduction of new exception types, UnscheduledShift and UnscheduledDay, in the scheduling module.

  • Automatic approval explanation added to Pay On-Demand.

What You Need to Do:

  • Review and adjust payroll settings for updated minimum wage laws.

  • Enable new scheduling exceptions, if applicable.

    • Minnesota (effective July 1, 2024):

      • Minneapolis: $15.57 for all employers.

      • St. Paul:

        • 1-5 employees: $12.25

        • 6-100 employees: $14.00

        • 101+ employees: $15.57

    • Oregon (effective July 1, 2024):

      • Portland Metro: $15.95

      • Nonurban Counties: $13.70

      • All Other Counties: $14.70

    • Washington Localities (effective July 1, 2024):

      • Tukwila:

        • Large Employers (500+): $20.29

        • Mid-Size Employers (15-499): $19.29

        • Small Employers (<15): state minimum wage

      • Renton:

        • Large Employers (500+): $20.29

        • Mid-Size Employers (15-499): $18.29

        • Small Employers (<15): state minimum wage

Reports

Certified Payroll Reports (CPR):

    • With the automated creation of CPR each week, Fingercheck generates comprehensive reports that include all necessary details, such as employee information, hours worked, wages paid, and benefits provided.

    • It is easy to set up prevailing wages.

Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ):
    • Generate PBJ reports quickly and easily with just a few clicks. Our software will format and compile your data in a way that meets Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services requirements.

Enhancements

Pay On-Demand (POD):

    • General Availability: POD is now fully available, with no option to revert to the legacy version.

    • Automatic Transaction Approval: New detailed verbiage explains the automatic approval process for unpaid wages.

    • E-Offer Letter: Required fields are now highlighted in red for better visibility.

Employee Information on Time Cards:

    • New Employee Card: Displays detailed employee information, including status, personal details, employment details, and tax information, all color-coded for clarity.

Data Source Updates

TaskPunch Added to EMPH6:

    • New data source, TaskPunch, within EMPH6 for GetEmployeePaidHoursSumByJob is now available.

Scheduling

New Exception Types:

    • UnscheduledShift: Triggers an exception if an employee punches in without a scheduled shift in the Schedule Module.

    • UnscheduledDay: Validates against the Schedule Policy and triggers an exception if an employee punches in on an unscheduled day.

Exception Policy Time Card Approval

    • For companies with exception policies, all time cards with any exceptions will need to be approved.

Bug Fixes

Time Card Approval:

    • Resolved errors for employees with zero hours.

Reset Password:

    • The keyboard now automatically displays when resetting the password.

Background Checks Permission Pop-up:

    • Removed erroneous permission pop-up.

2100 Plus Expense Data Report:

    • Fixed issue with report generation.

Employee Data Exchange:

    • Resolved issue with exchanges failing due to missing employee names in the .CSV file.

In Active Spelling Correction:

    • Corrected the spelling of "Inactive" in Setup > Company > Tasks.
